He has lived in Birmingham, Micanopy, Denver, Raleigh, New Hampshire, and most recently New Orleans, the setting for his second novel, Town Full of Hoors, for which he was recognized in the Gambit Weekly's fifth annual "40 Under 40" for his "contributions to life in the Crescent City." McGowin is the author of three novels, including his most recent, What God Has Joined Together, a novella, The Basement, a collection of poems, The Better Part of a Fortnight, as well as numerous short stories in such publications as Eclectica and 3 AM. He has been a Contributing Editor to Oyster Boy Review for many years, and his reviews and essays continue to appear within its pages and elsewhere.
