Planted Pine after Fire, Palm Coast, Florida, July 7, 1998.
"The pines shot is a fine one from when Florida was on fire in July 1998. It was shot on the day that Clinton came to survey the damage and went no farther than the Daytona Beach airport. I was standing in the planned development of Palm Coast, and area north of Daytona that was hit hard by the fires. I have the photos of houses that melted to a one-foot-high pile, where only the iron plumbing remains. The pine image was taken about a mile away, in a stand of planted pine. Folks don’t realize that fire is a part of the ecosystem, and if you have all the same kind of trees that dry up at the same time, there will be hell to pay."
