Damon Sauve published the first issue of Oyster Boy Review in 1994 in Gainesville, Florida, where, at the university, he studied creative writing as an undergraduate with Harry Crews. His bibliographic work on Crews has been published in The Southern Quarterly and in Getting Naked with Harry Crews, Perspectives on Harry Crews, and Southern Writers: A New Biographical Dictionary. Damon has been a web developer since 1995 and lives with his family in South Lake Tahoe, California.

Poetry Editor Emeritus

Born and raised in Kannapolis, North Carolina, Jeffery Beam has published over 14 books and recordings including Invocation (Country Valley Press), The Beautiful Tendons: Uncollected Queer Poems 1969-2007 (White Crane Wisdom Series), Visions of Dame Kind (The Jargon Society), An Elizabethan Bestiary Retold (Horse and Buggy), The Fountain (NC Wesleyan College Press), and the online book, Gospel Earth (Longhouse). His CD, What We Have Lost: New and Selected Poems 1977-2001, was a 2003 Audio Publishers Award finalist. The song cycle, Life of the Bee, with composer Lee Hoiby, continues to be performed on the international stage and can be heard on Albany Record's New Growth. An expanded Gospel Earth will be published by England's Skysill Press in 2009, and Japan's Bookgirl Press will be publishing an essay with poems, On Hounded Ground, soon. Beam has received numerous awards for his work, including three American Library Association Notable Book nominations, an IPPY small press book award, a Durham Arts Council Emerging Artist Grant, a Duke University Chronicle award, and a grant from the Mary Duke Biddle Foundation. You can read more about his work, read some poems, and hear a poetry reading at his web site.

Jeffery served as poetry editor of Oyster Boy Review from 1998 to 2015 and retired as a botanical librarian after 35 years at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in November 2011.

Jeffery's papers, as well as those of OBR, are on permanent loan as part of the Southern Historical Collection at the Wilson Special Collections Library at the University of North Carolina at Chapel:
